Pitching Mound TarpS
The pitching mounds are covered with tarps to protect the mounds against erosion from rain and sprinklers. Every evening, the tarps are placed on the mound by the last team that has practice/game. The tarps should be pulled from the dugout, unfolded and put over the mound. The tarps are sized to fit the mounds pretty closely. Sand bags should also be placed on top of the tarp to prevent the it from blowing off the mound. If you are unsure whether you are the last team practicing, put the tarp on the mound.
Questions or issues should be directed to: fields@sbll.us
Instructions:
The tarps must be removed every morning to allow the mounds to dry out from the condensation. One team will be responsible for pulling BOTH Major and Minor field tarps for one week. The tarps should be pulled in the morning before 9 a.m. each day Monday through Friday. Tarps should be folded neatly and placed in the corner of the visitor dugout, along with the sand bags. If you can’t pull tarps for any reason, it is your responsibility to get someone else to do it for that week. Please remember, as many as 8 teams and up to 96 kids suffer if tarps aren’t pulled…. it’s important to ensure this gets done.
